Walk the walk and talk the talk
Friday 6th May 2011 - The Walkers Arms Hotel
After a trip to the Pines to watch the Suns kick NT’s arse 6-0, RPF headed back to The Walkers Arms Hotel. Upon arrival we knew that this was a different place from any other place the RPF has visited. With a huge beer garden and fantastic atmosphere one other noticeable thing was the amount of TV’s in the place even to the point of mini screens on the beer taps. (2 points TVs on beer taps)
RPF regulars The CEO, Sanctuary, HRC, MD, MC, Cleaner and of course The President and First Lady, were joined by Dawso and RPF rookie Ali, while Braz and RPF New Ideas Man (Lash) made another appearance to the RPF.
Scoping the place out for suitable seating, a booth presented itself to us in the corner and everyone seemed happy with this except a certain HRC who though that our little area was unsociable and the reason why we come to a pub is because it’s for the “Pubic”, so he found his own area by himself.
With the beer of choice for me for the night being McLaren Vale Ale, and this going down a treat, food was the next to be ordered. The stock standard wedges once again were a popular choice, and add a dips platter it was a good start. Snittys seemed to be a favorite for the night and for The President and First Lady, a Presidential Suite or should I say “kids table” was provided for their dining experience. Unfortunately no one had a burger, so a true RPF rating for a Walker Burger will have to wait for another visit. This also applies to the $26 all you can eat Buffett, which seemed popular with fellow patrons. The buy of the night would have to be the $12 12 inch pizza after 9pm (2 points to pizzas) not bad value and got good reviews from MD and MC.
Whilst going for a wee walk, the RPF men were greeted with the ultimate in serviceable facilities. This being 2 massive plasma screens on the walls of the wee evacuation area, also known as the trough, and was quite a hit. I think everyone’s response was “wow I wish I had one at home”. (2 points TV screens in the men’s toilet)
As RPFers started to leave, only the CEO, Sanctuary, Cleaner and HRC remained to have one last ale and we were treated to something not witness by many people in a life time. After a short discussion on how they got here, it was concluded that the colder weather and waters had beached these lost Minki whales to the Walkers Arms and they certainly put on a show for us. Speaking in special high pitch whale tone and making graceful yet very awkwardly, some might say dance moves, with other female whales, these Minkis thought that if they try to perform for on looking bull’s (men) that their chances of mating might increase. Yet the strange noise being made were only entertaining us and driving others away (1 point for migrating whales).
The Walkers Arms Hotel RPF rating 7/10
